  1. The Art Instinct by Denis Dutton
Dutton, an aesthetic philosopher best known as the curator of the Web site Arts & Letters Daily, sets out to do for art what Steven Pinker and others have done for psychology, language, and religion: consider it from a Darwinian standpoint. -The New Yorker
A fascinating book I’ve been reading. And the author will be on Colbert tonight. It’s very exciting because he’s the father of a close friend of mine. Everyone’s given him advice, mine was to have fun, don’t be too serious and make it all about Colbert, e.g. his portrait, his ego, his anti-Darwinism. This is going to be fun.
