God, sometimes I feel like I live on a different planet from wherever the Tumblr staff offices are located, but I can’t remember ever discovering a great new blog from their Tumblr Tuesday staff picks. Ever. If anything, I click on the links and I get kinda sad; it’s, like, the biggest downer on my dashboard.
Therefore, I am taking it upon myself to big-up a few of my own favorite Tumblrs, and I’ve been careful to pick five that I haven’t mentioned in recent memory. In an alternate universe, Tumblr would encourage you to follow these five sites:
Blue Lines RevisitedTom Ewing is more famous for Freaky Trigger — as well as a recent gig as a columnist for the Guardian — but somehow, he still finds the time to maintain this crazy astute outlet for pop culture microcriticism. It’s a must-read.
The Bronze MedalRyan is a librarian, which makes me kind of jealous because he gets to be around free books all day. On Tumblr, he’s a pretty great curator of photography, literature, and music. I mean, they don’t just give those Library Science degrees to anyone.
Life SerialMatthew Allard is an aspiring novelist and fiction writer, and — hey! — he actually publishes some of it on Tumblr. That’s awesomely rare, so I’m a fan. When he’s not making stuff up, he writes about writing, reading, and life in Los Angeles.
Split InfinitivesI figure that I could either steal all of the quotes and videos Sean Fennessey publishes or I can just tell you to follow him to spare me the trouble. We seem to agree on everything.
HudsonI saw Hudson on the Clinton-Washington G train subway platform one morning and I declined to say anything because if I were actually good at walking up to total strangers, I probably wouldn’t have a blog. But whatever. He’s one of my earliest Tumblr finds, and still one of my favorites. Also, he wrote for Monocle! And you know how I feel about Monocle.
Spread the love, people.

Norman wrote this yesterday and it really made my day. For over 2 years now I’ve enjoyed his poignant life stories, reflections and ideas, so it’s a real honor. Also, for what it’s worth, I’ve never gotten a boatload of new followers so suddenly. Hello! Welcome to my scrapbook of good times and slow content. Now have a few units of coffee, or beer, and keep up the good work.
Also, here are just a few of NervousAcid’s must-reads, off the top of my head:
. How Fanzines Can Save the Magazine Industry. An incredible reflection of the Elliott Smith’s posthumous album . Queer Fellow. GPOYW / Things were so much simple then edition
